Visiting us from Chattanooga, TN, Mr. Gordon Wetmore is the co-founder and Chairman of The Portrait Society
of America, as well as a longtime friend of the PSA. Mr. Wetmore has studied extensively at the Art Students League
in NY and is a member of the Artist's Fellowship of NY and the Oil Painters of America.
He has created over 700 commissioned portraits, including many distinguished subjects such as President Richard
Nixon and the royal family of Monaco. Mr. Wetmore's portraits are internationally known for their accuracy and
vivid interpretations of a subject's true character. He has recently created an instructional video featuring the
use of three mediums for rendering portraits in oil, pastel or watercolor.
In recognition of the holiday season, our intermission will be extended to enjoy delicious eats and good fellowship.

Teachers' Weekend Workshop
Details to be announced
An exciting new event for our organization
focusing on improving skill levels and informing the public and membership about what
training is available from our member teachers. Skilled teachers interested in participating
must apply by submitting work examples, areas of expertise and ideas to Kathy Cuiffi, 2nd VP,
at 770-788-8370 or 770-385-5834, or e-mail kathycuiffi@bellsouth.net.
With the advent of changing from slide to digital submissions to our exhibits, some members may not know how to accomplish this task.
To help with the basic photoediting aspect of this two tutorials have been prepared using two of the most popular pay photoediting programs
available for both PC and MAC. These are very basic step-by-step instructions covering; straightening/rotating, cropping, DPI and size adjustments,
and color/exposure correction. The tutorial links are at the end of this section.
Many digital cameras and scanners come with some sort of photoediting program, if not one of the two available here.
If you wish to learn to use these programs I would suggest using the PhotoShop tutorial and compare the tools available with your program.
There are some some free online photoediting websites. Most are very poor in function. There is one standout website with one caveat, it lacks DPI adjustments.
If your photographs are already at 72DPI then this would be an excellent resource if you wish not having to learn and install programs on your computer.
This website is, Picnik.com.
Finally, there is also a free program for both the PC and MAC. It is very powerful and PhotoShop-like. The major downfall is the geekiness of the downloads.
If you wish to plunge into this the links are.
GIMP for Windows.
GIMP for MacIntosh.
